Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Community radio has emerged as a vital tool for promoting awareness, especially in local and rural settings, where access to mainstream media may be limited. In Bauchi Local Government Area, Bauchi State, community radio stations serve as an essential medium for disseminating information about local events, cultural festivals, health campaigns, and political gatherings. The unique ability of community radio to engage audiences in their local languages and address context-specific issues makes it a powerful platform for fostering event awareness.
According to recent studies, community radio not only serves as a tool for information dissemination but also facilitates dialogue between event organizers and community members (Adeyanju & Bello, 2024).
